Karin Carlson
Ms. Karin Carlson received her Bachelor of Science degree in Education and her Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Performance from the University of Connecticut in Storrs. Ms. Carlson was the Orchestra Director at East Lyme High School in Connecticut for 20 years and Manchester High School for 5 years. In addition to her orchestral duties she taught classroom guitar, music history, music technology, and beginning piano. She is a string specialist with students ranging from grades 3 through 12. Ms. Carlson has also directed string ensembles and taught private students through East Lyme Summer Strings and other venues such as the Thames Valley Music School in New London, Stewarts Music in Niantic, and the Hartford Conservatory in CT.
In addition to teaching, Ms. Carlson has performed with the Mystic String Trio, the Con Brio Orchestra, Eastern Connecticut Symphony, New Britain Symphony, Bristol Symphony, and the Farmington Valley Orchestra. As a freelance violist and violinist she continues to teach students, perform weddings, church services, pit orchestras, and other musical events.

Mary Frances McGovern
Mary is a passionate educator pursuing a graduate music education degree at UConn. Mary plays violin, viola, and cello. As a violinist, they have performed with the Northern Westchester Symphony Orchestra and St. Thomas Orchestra in Mamaroneck, NY. Mary has experience teaching teaching various methods and genres of music.
