Kay Burr is originally from Lintrathen, Scotland and first fell in love with Scottish Highland Dancing watching dancers compete in local Highland Games. She has performed and competed successfully in the USA, Scotland and England. Highlights of her dance adventures have included teaching dance workshops for the Step Up North dance festival in England and competing in the qualifiers for the World Championship at the Cowal Highland Gathering in Dunoon, Scotland. Kay became certified to teach Highland Dance by becoming a member of the British Association of Teachers of Dancing (BATD). She is a member of ScotDance USA under the Royal Scottish Official Board of Highland Dancing (RSOBHD) based in Scotland and has the privilege to register dancers for competition should they desire the opportunity. Whether for competition, performance or ‘just for fun’, Kay strongly believes Scottish Highland Dance should be accessible for anyone with the willingness to learn and the dedication to keep at it. Though competitions and/or performances are encouraged they are Not required to take lessons, simply a willingness to learn and a desire to keep at it and have fun!
